Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Duration: 12 months

Candidate Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include maintaining close interaction with the Wheel Tractor-Scraper(WTS) assembly areas to communicate engineering issues created during manufacturing/assembly processes.

This position is responsible for communicating engineering issues created during manufacturing/assembly processes to the responsible Engineering Team in the form of Continuous Improvement (CI) card, Assembly Quality Event (AQE), Very Early hour Reliability (VEHR), and Rapid Corrective Action (RCA) issues and is accountable for their successful resolution by collaborating with IMOD and Manufacturing Planning.

This position is responsible for representing the product group engineering team at all Concurrent Process and Product Development (CPPD) meetings.

This position reviews changes to ensure they are error-free.

The First Responder is also responsible for vehicle-level prints (paint and lube, General arrangement prints, Test instructions, etc.) and bill of material (BOM) updates, virtual print, and notice audits, and supporting Cell Certification, attending shop floor VOC Meetings, Prototype and Pilot machine builds supporting New Product Introduction (NPI). Other duties include virtual configuration audits, print creation and release.


Typical Day

Candidate will be responding to issues on the shop floor. Time spent on shop floor and desk varies depending on need. Will partake in weekly meetings. Core hours are 7:00-3:30 with some flexibility.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required. Mechanical degree preferred.



Technical Skills

Required: 5 years of overall experience (project and internships included). At least 3 years machine assembly/processing experience.

Should have at least a basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Good knowledge of basic software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).



Desired:

Previous experience with machine design/process design, previous Engineering coordination activity experience, use of VisView, use of TeamCenter. Differentiation Factor:

Soft Skills

Excellent communication, both written and oral. Manage shifting priorities while maintaining good interpersonal skills in a team environment. Must possess ability to learn quickly and willing to work with operations/shop floor on a daily basis.
